YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE (as recorded by Johnny Cash)

The other night dear, as I lay sleeping
I dreamed I held you in my arms
When I awoke, dear, I was mistaken
So I hung my head and I cried.

CHORUS:

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy when skies are gray
You’ll never know dear how much I love you
Please don’t take my sunshine away.

I’ll always love you and make you happy,
If you will only say the same.
But if you leave me and love another,
You’ll regret it all some day:

CHORUS

You told me once, dear, you really loved me
And no one else could come between.
But now you’ve left me to love another;
You have shattered all my dreams:

CHORUS

In all my dreams, dear, you seem to leave me
When I awake my poor heart pains.
So when you come back and make me happy
I’ll forgive you dear, I’ll take all the blame.

CHORUS

MONDAY 9/1 – No School – Labor Day

TUESDAY 9/2 – No Class

Even though it’s the first day of school, there is no class due to an early release for a PUD-scheduled power outage that begins at 10:00 a.m. and has been arranged to last the entire day.

WEDNESDAY 9/3 Orientation

Today you’ll get a course syllabus that needs to be signed by a parent and returned to class, and we’ll play a fun singing game called “Ackalacka.”

THURSDAY 9/4 More Orientation

Yesterday I found out that quite a few of you are very shy about singing by yourself—that’s okay, because you won’t have to sing by yourself in a performance if you choose not to—you just need to be willing to sing along at the beginning of class each day and to sing privately in front of me.

Today, we’ll warm up with “Ackalacka,” sing “Row, Row, Row Your Boat,” in rounds, and do some reflective writing about music. If we have time we’ll do a five note warm up called “Balabba.”

Next week we’ll begin some basic guitar instruction.

FRIDAY 9/5 – No Class on Fridays.
